Seventeen, an average girl, not in demand from any school.

I knew the power of being away could lead one down the wrong road and quickly go astray.

So at seventeen on Valentine's Day I asked my parents, "Help make a way!"

Where I could be a part of keeping America great. And we all signed, gave it over to fate.

And I knew without out a doubt I'd have the dedication.

I'd serve my country, make proud my nation.

And be a part of something bigger than me.

A helping hand to this land of the free.

I'd serve my country like my father before me. I'd do my best; my sister showed me.

I'd ignore the people who thought I was crazy. That serving my country was a waste of me.

And I look back now I know God had a hand in helping me choose to serve this land.
